FORGET BORING THANKS TO FRINGE WORLD

All the people of Perth are invited to shake off the borings and enjoy 31 days of amazing entertainment at the biggest annual event in Westen Australia, FRINGE WORLD Festival!

Running from Friday 26 January through 25 February, Fringe is the absolute best time of year in Perth, when everyone makes the most of the great weather to enjoy entertainment at almost 130 venues spread throughout Northbridge, Perth CBD and other neighbourhoods in our great city.

FRINGE WORLD Festival Director Amber Hasler said that the best way to celebrate the opening of Fringe is to visit during the City of Perth’s Australia Day Long Weekend.

“Fringe hubs and environments open their doors with free and ticketed entertainment this weekend and we can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions to the new and exciting events and venues we have on offer,” Ms Hasler.

“We love how much people have embraced the opportunity to go on a Fringe Binge and see as much as possible during the Festival. With more than 750 events in the program you’ll never get bored when you are coming back for more and more every night of the Fringe.”

This weekend at Perth’s favourite Fringe playground, The Pleasure Garden, catch free entertainment like Little Pleasures and the FRINGE WORLD Mermaids plus a big variety of shows such as cabaret Terror Australis, magician Kevin Quantum: And For My Next Trick and intimate circus show Simple Space.

For those new to Fringe, the best place to start a Fringe adventure is FRINGE Central at The Perth Cultural Centre. This weekend you can see comedy like 2017 hit Josh Glanc: 99 Schnitzels (Veal Ain’t One), the cult hit of the Edinburgh Fringe We Are Ian and Music & Musicals like Shania Choir.

New to FRINGE WORLD 2018 is Northbridge venue The Ice Cream Factory. It’s home to a top-shelf cabaret program at The Edith Spiegeltent, comedy venue The Ramp plus the sure-to-sell-out show Club Swizzle, from the creators of La Soirée.

One of the exciting new offerings at Fringe is The Showman’s Fair, open nightly from 26 January at the Urban Orchard in FRINGE Central. It’s a wild Dutch mini-festival with live music, performances and special surprises including a long table dining experience that you’ll be talking about for years! It’s free to enter and there are mini-shows you can check out for a bargain $5 a pop.

On the second weekend of the Fringe is the Festival’s biggest ever free program. The City of Perth FRINGE WORLD Buskers Weekender will be taking over the City malls from February 2 to 4 with an international array of street performers, circus acts and wild entertainment.

More than 47% of events in the Festival program are from Western Australian artists and a trip to Fringe is not complete without checking out at least one WA show. When you enjoy a WA show you are supporting our very own Homegrown Heroes, the talented local artists and performers that make our state and city shine! Thanks to Woodside for helping us shine the spotlight on the best in the West.

FRINGE WORLD gratefully recognises the support of its partners including: Principal Supporter: Lotterywest; Government Partners The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries; City of Perth, Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority; and Principal Partners Woodside, Gage Roads Brewing Co and oOh! Media.

With an average ticket price of $24 and a range of fabulous free community events, Fringe is accessible to everyone! Visit fringeworld.com.au to get your tickets and visit fringefeed.com.au for daily Fringe reviews.
